Amber Lynette Seymore, a 38-year-old Caucasian woman, tragically died on December 3, 2012, in Holly Springs, North Carolina. The circumstances surrounding her death were deeply distressing. Amber was found dead in her home alongside her husband, Robert Seymore, also 38, in what authorities determined to be a murder-suicide. Robert Seymore, a retired BART canine officer, shot Amber in the head before turning the gun on himself.

Drive in the Wood Creek subdivision. Amber's mother discovered the bodies when she returned from dropping off the couple's older children at school. The couple's youngest child, a two-year-old, was present in the home at the time of the shooting but was unharmed.
Prior to the incident, Amber had expressed concerns about her safety. On November 23, 2012, she called 911 to request police presence at her home as a precaution while her husband was moving out. Amber had discovered that Robert was cheating on her and feared for her safety due to his temper and possession of firearms. She had removed other guns from the house and hidden them, but Robert still had access to a weapon.
The couple was in the process of getting a divorce, and tensions had been escalating. Amber's mother informed the dispatcher during the 911 call that Robert had a history of violence, including an incident where he shoved Amber while she was holding their children. The tragic events of December 3, 2012, brought an end to Amber's life and left her family and friends mourning her loss.
