Lanija Antionne Gilpatrick, a 22-year-old African American male, tragically passed away on July 26, 2013, in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Initially, his death was reported as an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound. However, the case took a significant turn when an anonymous Facebook message sent to Gilpatrick's mother in 2015 claimed that he did not shoot himself, but was shot by Tyler Prudden, a fellow Marine.
