Daniel Cortez Morrison, a 21-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on July 5, 2014, in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The incident occurred when Morrison, along with another individual, picked up a passenger at a convenience store located at the corner of Cumberland Road and Wingate Road around 3:30 p.m. on that fateful Saturday. The passenger, who was later identified as the perpetrator, attempted to rob Morrison and his companion.
During the robbery, the assailant shot Morrison on Tolgate Road near Old Spears Road. Despite efforts to save him, Morrison succumbed to his injuries at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
