Marquise Deswan Alexander, a 27-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on September 1, 2014, in Greensboro, North Carolina. The incident occurred at The Arbors townhomes located at 4023 Hewitt Street. Alexander was one of the two victims who were fatally shot during a violent altercation. The other victim was Daquis Eugene Williams, an 18-year-old African American male.
Additionally, two other individuals, Kelvin Demetrius Williams, 24, and Tirrod Derrell Marsh, 27, were wounded in the same incident.
The perpetrator, Elijah Dominque Jordan, 22, was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of attempted first-degree murder, and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. Jordan, who was also an African American male, later pleaded guilty to two counts of voluntary manslaughter and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injuries. He was sentenced to serve a total of 20 years to 27 years and 6 months in prison.
