Caitlin Faulkenberry, a 25-year-old female student at Pitt Community College, tragically lost her life on November 21, 2014, in Greenville, North Carolina. She was fatally stabbed at her apartment complex, Whitebridge Apartments, by her fiancé, Calvin Lavance Clay Jr., who was 26 years old at the time. Faulkenberry was rushed to Vidant Medical Center but succumbed to her injuries.
The suspect, Calvin Clay, fled the scene in a white Jeep and caused several accidents while trying to
escape. He was quickly apprehended by the police and charged with murder. Clay later pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 36 years in prison. The court proceedings revealed that the couple had a history of domestic disputes, and law enforcement had been called to their residence on two prior occasions.
