On the night of May 28, 2024, in Greenville, North Carolina, 55-year-old Tammy Junice Greene was fatally shot in her residence on Montclair Drive. Responding to reports of gunfire around 11:30 p.m., police discovered Greene deceased at the scene from gunshot wounds. Another woman, 34-year-old Karla Keely White, was also found injured and was transported to ECU Health Medical Center; she was expected to survive.
The Greenville Police Department quickly initiated an investigation, treating the incident as a targeted attack. Within two days, on May 30, 2024, they arrested 39-year-old Jarriel Monte Crandle at the Knights Inn on South Memorial Drive in Greenville. Crandle, an acquaintance of both Greene and White, was charged with murder, attempted murder, and illegal possession of a firearm. Authorities indicated that the shootings were deliberate, though the exact motive remained under investigation.
Following his arrest, Crandle was held without bail on the murder and attempted murder charges, with a $25,000 bond set for the firearm possession charge.
