On a cold December afternoon in 2013, a life was tragically cut short at a Detroit gas station. Haitham Elias, a 48-year-old Asian/Pacific Islander male, was sitting in his vehicle at the Sunoco gas station located at the corner of 6 Mile and Mt. Elliot on the city's east side. It was approximately 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, December 21st, when an unknown assailant approached the car and opened fire, fatally wounding him.
