Jaron Gist, a 24-year-old, was killed on July 31, 2012, in a tragic incident at the Visible Change barber shop on Detroit's west side. The shooting occurred at Joy and Dexter Roads around 10:30 a.m. when a suspect fired at Gist while he was outside the shop. The attacker then chased Gist inside the barber shop, where he ultimately shot and killed him. Two other people were also injured during the incident.
