Ta'Nya LaShay Williams, a 16-year-old African American girl from Charlotte, NC, was tragically shot on December 20, 2015. The incident occurred in the 1600 block of Vancouver Drive while Ta'Nya was sitting in a car with two other 16-year-old girls and a 26-year-old man. An unknown suspect began shooting at them, and Ta'Nya was struck in the head. She was immediately taken to Carolinas Medical Center, where she fought for her life for nine months before succumbing to her injuries.
