Devonte Dorsey Bryant, a 22-year-old African American male, was tragically shot and killed on April 9, 2016, in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The incident occurred around 12:45 a.m. in the area of Hawthorne Road and West Drive. According to reports, the shooting happened during an altercation. Devonte Bryant was identified as the victim, and he resided on Dobbin Holmes Road.
Following the incident, the Fayetteville police swiftly arrested a suspect, Anthony Antonio Davis, a 31-year-old
male, who was charged with first-degree murder. Davis was apprehended without incident with the assistance of the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office. He was taken into custody at the home of a known acquaintance, Renee Nicole David, a 31-year-old female, who was also arrested on outstanding warrants from Lee County for speeding, driving while license revoked, and violation of a court order.
The investigation revealed that Davis and Bryant had an altercation that led to the fatal shooting. Davis was processed at the Cumberland County Detention Center and held without bond.
