Dekota Chase Smith, a 16-year-old male from Granite Falls, North Carolina, tragically passed away on April 10, 2016. Dekota was a student at South Caldwell High School and was known for his involvement in the wrestling and track teams. On the day of his death, Dekota was at his grandparents' home, engaging in a video chat with a friend via Skype. During the chat, he was showing his friend a gun when it accidentally discharged, resulting in his death.
