Malik Devon Brown Burnette, an 18-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on July 26, 2016, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Malik was gunned down in a cul-de-sac on Jackie Robinson Street near Adelaide Walters Street, shortly before 10 p.m. that night. The shooting also left another 18-year-old male, Tanner Cobb, injured. Malik was pronounced dead at UNC Hospitals, while Tanner was treated and remained in stable condition.
