Nwabu Cyril Efobi, a 56-year-old African American male, was tragically found dead on November 8, 2016, in Raleigh, North Carolina. Efobi, who worked as a cab driver for Universal Cab Company, was discovered with gunshot wounds in the 400 block of Hill Street, across from St. Augustine’s University. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into Efobi's death led to the arrest of Tyron Diontae Cooper, a 31-year-old male, who was charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a felon. Cooper was apprehended on La Salle Street in Raleigh. The police did not immediately disclose a motive for the shooting, and it was unclear if Efobi knew the suspect.
