Summary based on 1 source
Frolian Turcios Perdoma, a 24-year-old male, tragically lost his life on March 16, 2017, in Charlotte, North Carolina. The incident occurred at the Retreat at McAlpine Creek apartment complex along Fishers Farm Lane. According to reports, the victim was involved in a robbery-shooting at the apartment complex. The perpetrators kicked in the apartment door and committed an armed robbery, during which something prompted them to shoot and kill Frolian. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation into Frolian's death led to the arrest of Jose Augusto Diaz-Garcia, a 43-year-old male, who was charged with first-degree murder, three counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon. The trial began on January 24, 2022, and was held in courtroom 5370 before Superior Court Judge W. Todd Pomeroy. On February 14, 2022, the jury found Diaz-Garcia guilty of conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon but not guilty of first-degree murder and the robbery with a dangerous weapon charges. He was sentenced to 23-40 months in prison.

The charges against Diaz-Garcia's co-defendant, Carlos Rosales, remain pending. The family of Frolian Turcios Perdoma may seek justice and elect to pursue legal claims for his wrongful death, especially if it is revealed that the apartment complex owner or management company failed to provide adequate security to protect those on its premises. The case highlights the ongoing challenges in ensuring safety and security in residential areas and the complexities of the legal system in addressing such tragic incidents.
