Brandon Tyler Burrow, an 18-year-old male from High Point, NC, was tragically shot and killed on March 21, 2017. The incident occurred at a Motel 6 on SW Cloverleaf in High Point around 6:45 am. Brandon succumbed to his injuries later that same day. The High Point Police Department quickly identified and arrested two suspects in connection with his death.
Billy Wade Ingram, Jr., a 41-year-old male from High Point, was charged with murder.
The US Marshal’s Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Brian O’Neal Davis, a 35-year-old male from High Point, on warrants for murder. Davis was also served with several other drug-related warrants unrelated to the murder. Both men were held in the Guilford County Jail with no bond. The police used the motel’s video surveillance cameras to identify the suspects.
The district attorney’s office revealed that the homicide was the result of a drug deal gone wrong. Both suspects admitted to being at the motel at the time of the shooting, and police found two firearms at the scene. The motive behind Brandon’s death was believed to be robbery, directly related to drugs. Davis, who called 911 after the shooting, was described by his family as a heroin addict but not a killer. The court appointed public defenders from the capital defenders office to represent both Ingram and Davis.
The investigation into Brandon’s death was thorough, with the High Point Police Department calling for extra help from the U.S. Marshal’s Violent Fugitive Task Force. The case highlighted the link between violent crimes and drugs in the community, with authorities emphasizing the consequences of involvement in the drug trade. The court denied bond for both suspects, and they were due back in court in mid-May.
