Daquain Blackwell, a 17-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on August 17, 2017, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The incident occurred when Blackwell was seated in the right front passenger seat of a vehicle with three other occupants, all of whom were known acquaintances. Jabhari Robinson, an 18-year-old male, was seated in the rear passenger area of the vehicle and had a 9mm handgun out. The gun was accidentally discharged, and Blackwell was struck by gunfire in the back.
