Mondrell Walter Leake, also known as Drell, was a 35-year-old African American man who was tragically shot to death on August 22, 2017, in Albemarle, North Carolina. Drell was well-loved in his community and had a large family, including his children, siblings, and many friends. He was born on April 7, 1982, in Stanley County, North Carolina, and was known for his vibrant personality and his involvement in the First Baptist Church in Norwood, North Carolina.
The Albemarle Police
Department launched an investigation into Drell's death and sought the public's help to find the person responsible. The investigation revealed that Drell was found lying in the roadway early in the morning, indicating that he had been shot sometime during the night. Despite their efforts, the police have not made any arrests or identified any suspects in connection with the murder. Authorities even offered a reward for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for Drell's death.
