On August 31, 2017, 18-year-old Branique Stephan McKnight, a young African American male from Conover, NC, was tragically shot and killed at an apartment complex in Hickory, NC. The incident occurred around 4 p.m., and police responded to the scene shortly after. Alongside McKnight, 20-year-old Janarion Kaverio Knox, also an African American male from Hickory, was found dead in the apartment. Witnesses reported hearing seven gunshots and seeing a car leave the scene.
