On February 22, 2018, Tenisha Jenel Mills, a 27-year-old African American woman from Winston-Salem, NC, was fatally shot in the neck. She was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for treatment but tragically passed away the following day. The incident occurred when a car pulled up to the back of the Winston-Salem Police Department, and someone inside the car reported a shooting victim.
