On January 7, 2024, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Winston-Salem police responded to a reported shooting on Hartfield Circle. Upon arrival, officers discovered 44-year-old Kia Scheron Ramseur suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite prompt medical attention, Ramseur succumbed to her injuries, marking the city's first homicide of the year.
