Richard Dorman Webb, a 49-year-old male, was tragically killed on March 8, 2018, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Webb, who worked as a cab driver for Classic Cab, was found dead in his taxi at the intersection of Peachtree Street and Tower Street. He had suffered a gunshot wound to the back, which damaged several major organs, leading to his death at the scene.
The investigation into Webb's death revealed that his taxi's rear passenger door was open, and some of his belongings, including his phone and wallet contents, were scattered around the scene. Police traced a call for the cab to Calvin Lee Moore, a 25-year-old resident of Winston-Salem, who was found within walking distance of the crime scene. A search of Moore's residence uncovered a .22 caliber revolver hidden under a mattress. Moore admitted to riding in Webb's cab and shooting him with the revolver, which belonged to him.
Moore was arrested and charged with Webb's murder. He eventually pled guilty to second-degree murder in Forsyth County Superior Court. On January 6, 2023, Superior Court Judge David Hall sentenced Moore to 12-16 years in prison, with a minimum of 155 months and a maximum of 198 months.
