Demaira Chevez Williams, a 20-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on September 27, 2018, in Roxboro, North Carolina. Born on the same date in 1998, Demaira was celebrating his 20th birthday when the incident occurred. He was a resident of Burlington, North Carolina, and had a close-knit family, including his mother, Shawanda L. Williams, and his son, Bryson Williams.
On the night of his birthday, Demaira was shot and killed while celebrating in Roxboro.
The police responded to a reported shooting shortly before 9 p.m. at 131 Cleveland Lane. Upon arrival, officers found Demaira dead from a single gunshot wound. The motive for the shooting remains unclear, and the investigation is ongoing.
Rodney Fuller, a 35-year-old male from Roxboro, was arrested the following day at his home and charged with first-degree murder in connection with Demaira's death. Fuller is currently being held without bond in the Person County jail. The police have urged anyone with information about the case to come forward and assist in the investigation.
