Murilio Zurito Domingo, a 24-year-old male from Durham, NC, tragically lost his life on January 1, 2019. He was one of the victims in a double homicide that occurred on New Year's Day. The incident took place in the 2000 block of House Avenue, where both Murilio and 26-year-old Bertin Vasquez Mendoza were found shot and killed. This was the second deadly double shooting in Durham on that day.
The Durham police identified two suspects in connection with the murders.
Jose Manuel Vargas-Regino, a 20-year-old male from Durham, was charged with two counts of murder. However, he was not in custody at the time of the report. Jonathan Cabrera, an 18-year-old male from Durham, was charged with two counts of accessory after the fact of murder. Cabrera posted a $50,000 bond and was released from jail.
