Christopher Babunga, a 27-year-old African male, was tragically shot and killed on August 23, 2019, in Greensboro, North Carolina. The incident occurred around 10:50 p.m. in the 3900 block of Hahns Lane. Babunga, a father of three, was shot multiple times by an assailant in a vehicle. His family, who are refugees from Africa, had fled their home country due to violence, only to face a similar fate in their new home.
Babunga's brother, John Pavuge, recounted the moment he discovered his brother's death, expressing deep anger and sadness. Babunga leaves behind a wife and three children, one of whom was only a few months old at the time of his death.
The investigation into Babunga's death led to the arrest of two suspects, Vincent Jerome Jackson Jr., 24, and Ahshad Tyree Hill-Martin, 20, both of Greensboro. They were charged with first-degree murder and are currently being held at the Guilford County Jail. The police are continuing their investigation, reviewing 911 calls made on the night of the incident and interviewing potential witnesses.
