Aaron Christopher Thomas, a 21-year-old male from Greensboro, North Carolina, tragically passed away on December 4, 2019. Born on January 5, 1998, in Guilford County, Aaron was the son of Eric McCain and Latisha Thomas. He was educated in the local public schools and graduated from James B. Dudley High School in 2016. At the time of his death, Aaron was a junior at North Carolina A&T State University.
On the morning of December 4, 2019, Aaron was found with a gunshot wound outside his
residence on Brown Boulevard in Greensboro. Authorities responded to the scene at approximately 10:59 a.m. and transported him to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving. The suspect or suspects were believed to be in a dark-colored sedan, possibly black, which was seen driving west towards Willow Road.
The investigation into Aaron's death revealed that this was the second time authorities had been called to the area of Brown Boulevard within a short period. Just days before the fatal shooting, Greensboro police had responded to a "shots fired" call in the same vicinity. Neighbors reported seeing a dark-colored vehicle speeding down the street with occupants shooting guns into the air. However, it remains unclear if this incident was connected to Aaron's murder.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with Aaron's death. The Greensboro police are actively searching for the person or persons responsible for the fatal shooting. Detectives continue to investigate the incident, and anyone with information is urged to contact Greensboro/Guilford Crime Stoppers. The community has been deeply affected by this tragedy, and efforts to raise awareness about gun violence have been amplified in the wake of Aaron's death. A "Youths Against Gun Violence" program was held at Mount Zion Church of God in Greensboro, hosted by three area churches, to address the impact of gun violence on families and communities.
