Terrance Rashawn Ford, a 31-year-old African American male, was last seen on December 12, 2019, driving away from his home on Raven Rock Road in Lillington, North Carolina. His disappearance was initially treated as a missing persons case by the Harnett County Sheriff's Office. However, investigators soon suspected foul play was involved. On May 15, 2020, Ford's body was discovered in a shallow grave on a property off T.W. Campbell Lane in Lillington. The discovery was made after deputies executed a search warrant using a cadaver K-9.
Derrick Wesley Brooks, a 37-year-old male from Cameron, North Carolina, was identified as a person of interest early in the investigation. Brooks was already in the Harnett County Detention Center on unrelated charges when he was charged with Ford's murder and concealment/failure to report a death. He remains in custody without bond.
Ford's death remains under investigation, and authorities have not yet released a motive. The investigation is ongoing, and more charges may be filed against Brooks or other potential suspects. Ford's family, who described him as a loving father of two children and a person with a laid-back personality, has been deeply affected by his tragic death. This was not the first tragedy for the family, as Ford's brother was killed in Alabama in 2011.
