Laquita Terelle Amos, a 39-year-old African American woman from Greensboro, NC, tragically lost her life on December 12, 2019. The incident occurred at Yorktowne Apartments on Lynhaven Drive. According to reports, Laquita was shot and killed at the scene. The shooting also resulted in injuries to two other individuals, one of whom was critically injured.
The events leading up to the shooting were captured in 911 calls, which provided new details about the moments before the tragedy.
Witnesses reported that three people arrived at a relative’s boyfriend’s apartment to pick up belongings. As they entered, gunshots were heard, and Laquita was found down. One of the callers mentioned that her sister’s boyfriend was shot in the chest.
Laquita's sister, Desiree Latrice Amos, was also injured in the shooting. Officers found three victims with gunshot wounds, two inside the residence and one outside. Laquita was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other two victims were taken to the hospital.
The Greensboro Police Department confirmed that they had identified all individuals involved in the incident and were not actively searching for a suspect. There was no threat to the public, and the case was classified as a domestic-related assault.
