Jeffery Chazz Dickerson, a 27-year-old male from Reidsville, NC, tragically lost his life on March 14, 2020. The incident occurred following an argument inside Jack’s Burger Bar in Reidsville. According to reports, Christopher Deshawn Jumper, who was 29 years old at the time, was involved in the altercation. Jumper, who was extremely intoxicated, left the bar and returned with a gun. He waited for Dickerson to leave the bar and then shot him multiple times.
Dickerson succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.
The Reidsville Police Department responded to the scene and arrested Jumper on charges of first-degree murder. Jumper later pled guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to a minimum of 25 years and a maximum of 31 years in prison. Additionally, Tecorey Emmanuel Totten, who was driving the car Jumper used to flee the scene, was sentenced to a minimum of 44 months and a maximum of 65 months for Accessory After the Fact to Second-Degree Murder.
The case drew significant attention in the local community, highlighting issues related to gun violence and the impact of alcohol on decision-making. The investigation and subsequent legal proceedings provided some closure to Dickerson's family and friends, though the loss of a young life remained a poignant reminder of the consequences of such violent actions.
