Paulette Thorpe, a 74-year-old woman from Durham, NC, tragically lost her life on July 4, 2020, due to celebratory gunfire. She was celebrating the Fourth of July with neighbors at a house on Burlington Avenue when she was struck by a stray bullet fired into the air. Thorpe was immediately taken to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival.
