On October 12, 2020, 58-year-old Ernest Lightner was shot and killed at his home on Campus Street in Charlotte, NC. The incident occurred during an altercation, and Lightner was pronounced dead at the scene. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to the scene and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
Two days after the shooting, on October 14, 2020, Gina Michelle Kilgo, a 29-year-old woman, was arrested and charged with Lightner's murder.
