Destiny Denise Greene, a 22-year-old African American woman from Maple Hill, North Carolina, tragically lost her life on November 8, 2020. Destiny was seven months pregnant at the time of her death. The Pender County Sheriff's Office responded to an emergency medical call at 417 John Pickett Road, where they discovered the bodies of Destiny Denise Greene and William Lenwood Coley III, a 26-year-old man. Destiny was found inside the home, while Coley was found outside. Both victims had suffered fatal gunshot wounds.
The investigation into their deaths revealed that Destiny Denise Greene and William Lenwood Coley III were acquaintances, though it remains unclear if Coley was the father of Greene's unborn child. The Pender County Sheriff's Office, along with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives , has been actively investigating the case. Despite numerous tips and leads, no arrests have been made, and the case remains unsolved.
The autopsy report for William Coley III indicated that he died from a single gunshot wound to the head at contact range. Tire and shoe prints were found in the yard, along with a trail of blood leading to where Coley was discovered. The autopsy report for Destiny Denise Greene has not been released yet.
The Pender County Sheriff's Office has classified the case as a triple homicide due to Destiny's pregnancy. North Carolina law treats the killing of an unborn child the same as the killing of any other person. The ATF has offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of those responsible for the deaths of Destiny Denise Greene and William Lenwood Coley III.
