Leonicio Ramos Guerrero, a male of Hispanic ethnicity, was tragically shot and killed on January 2, 2021, in Pine-swamp, North Carolina. Guerrero was 63 years old at the time of his death. The incident occurred at a home on Little Gap Road, where Guerrero was shot by an adult male suspect who then fled the scene in a white Ford Explorer Sport Trac.
Law enforcement officers were able to track down the suspect, Reginald Steve Elledge, 45 years old, of Fleetwood, NC, based on the
description of the vehicle. Elledge was found and taken into custody without incident at a Lowe's Home Improvement store parking lot in West Jefferson. He was transported to the Ashe County Sheriff's Office for further questioning and was subsequently arrested for homicide. Elledge is currently being held without bond in the Ashe County Detention Center.
The investigation into Guerrero's death revealed that Elledge was responsible for the shooting, and he is facing charges related to the homicide. The case has been a significant focus for local law enforcement, and efforts are ongoing to ensure justice for Guerrero and his family.
