Melford Edison Holloway Jr., a 44-year-old African American male from Eden, North Carolina, was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound on June 24, 2021. The Eden Police Department responded to a call about a gunshot victim at around 2:09 a.m. and discovered Holloway's body.
Following an investigation, the police identified 42-year-old Vincent Lee Broadnax, also an African American male from Reidsville, as the suspect in the murder of Melford Edison Holloway Jr.
Broadnax was arrested without incident at Stoney Brook Apartments just outside of Eden. He was charged with one count of felony first-degree murder and held without bond. Broadnax was scheduled to appear in Rockingham County District Court on July 8, 2021.
