Koredreese Robert Tyson, a 29-year-old Black male, was tragically killed on July 24, 2021, in Wilmington, North Carolina. Tyson, who was associated with the TRU Colors Brewery, was one of two victims in a double homicide that occurred in the upscale Providence neighborhood. The incident took place at the home of George Taylor III, the Chief Operating Officer of TRU Colors and the son of the company's founder. The other victim was 21-year-old Bri-yanna Emily Williams, a Black female.
Both Tyson and Williams were found dead from gunshot wounds inside the residence.
The New Hanover County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene early in the morning after receiving a call from a female victim who reported gunfire from inside the residence. The investigation revealed that there was no sign of forced entry, suggesting that the doors may have been unlocked. The authorities do not believe that robbery was the motive for the killings.
Tyson's death has been a significant blow to his family and the community. His gravesite at Calvary Memorial Cemetery was desecrated shortly after his burial, with flowers and other items set on fire. This act of vandalism has added to the grief and pain experienced by his loved ones. The Wilmington Police Department is investigating the suspected arson at the cemetery.
The murders of Tyson and Williams are being investigated by the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office. As of now, no arrests or suspects have been announced. The authorities are working diligently to identify those responsible and bring them to justice. The community continues to mourn the loss of Tyson, who was remembered as a peace-keeper despite his past run-ins with the law.
