Markelia Jenilla Young, a 35-year-old African American woman, was tragically killed on October 1, 2021, in Charlotte, North Carolina. The incident occurred in the northwest part of the city, specifically on Clydesdale Terrace. According to reports, officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call at approximately 5:20 p.m. Upon arrival, they found Markelia with an apparent gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
