Kevin Matthews, a 35-year-old man from Detroit, was killed on December 23, 2015, during an encounter with a Dearborn police officer. Matthews, who was reportedly unarmed and had a history of mental illness, was fatally shot following a foot chase that led to a physical struggle between him and the officer.
