Bartolome Palacios Mundo, a 42-year-old man from Winston-Salem, NC, tragically passed away on January 17, 2022. Mundo was confronted and shot by Alex Arevalo-Ramirez, who suspected Mundo was having an affair with his wife. Arevalo-Ramirez followed his wife to Mundo's home and, after a brief confrontation, shot Mundo in the stomach. Mundo died at the scene, and his last text message was to Arevalo-Ramirez's wife, informing her that her husband had shot him.

Arevalo-Ramirez was arrested later that day and confessed to the shooting. He claimed that he only intended to confront Mundo and warn him to stay away from his wife, but something came over him during the confrontation, leading him to shoot Mundo. Arevalo-Ramirez pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 234-293 months in prison, or about 19 to 24 years.

The incident took place at Mundo's residence in the Peacehaven Mobile Home Park on Hollow Ridge Drive. Mundo's son was present during the shooting and provided crucial information to the investigators. Arevalo-Ramirez hid the gun before deputies arrived but never provided law enforcement with the weapon.

This tragic event has left a lasting impact on Mundo's family and friends, who gathered to remember him and honor his memory. Mundo's interment was held in Mexico, as per his wishes.
