LaMichael Shawn Carter, a 27-year-old African American male, was tragically shot to death on April 12, 2022, in Asheville, North Carolina. The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. on the 300 block of Fairfax Avenue in a West Asheville neighborhood. Upon arrival, Asheville police officers found Carter lying face down in the roadway, having suffered fatal gunshot wounds. This marked the fourth confirmed homicide in Asheville in 2022, and the third by gunfire.
