Raekwon Deondre Berry, a 26-year-old African American male, was tragically shot and killed in his apartment in Concord, North Carolina, on May 30, 2022. The incident occurred in the early hours of Memorial Day when four men forced their way into Berry's apartment at the Parkway Station Apartments on Samuel Adams Circle. The suspects, identified as Germarcus Rashad Sellers, 24, of Charlotte; Carlton James Harris, 20, of Gastonia; Joshua Lewis Fortune, 31, of Greensboro; and Sheldon Eugene
Little, 28, of Greensboro, were charged with murder in connection with Berry's death.
Berry was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds inside his apartment. A second victim, a 28-year-old individual, was also injured in the neighboring apartment when bullets penetrated the wall. This second victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspects arrived in two separate vehicles and waited in the parking lot before forcing their way into Berry's apartment. Once inside, they fired multiple shots, resulting in Berry's death.
The investigation into Berry's murder involved multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Concord Police Department, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, Gastonia Police, and Greensboro Police. The suspects were apprehended and taken into custody without incident. They are currently being held in the Cabarrus County Jail without bond. The case highlights the collaborative efforts of various police departments in bringing the suspects to justice.
