In the early hours of an April morning in 2016, a burst of gunfire shattered the pre-dawn stillness outside a liquor store on Detroit's west side, leaving a young man dead and another fighting for his life. The incident, which took place on April 18, unfolded at the Spotlight Liquor store situated at the corner of McNichols and Telegraph Roads. Inside a Dodge Durango parked outside the establishment, 26-year-old Carl Jackson was seated when the vehicle was mercilessly sprayed with bullets.
