Lamar was born on November 3, 1983, and was a beloved member of his community. He was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to his job at US Foods, where he had been employed for nine years. Lamar's sudden and unexpected death left his family, friends, and colleagues in deep mourning.
On the night of his death, Lamar was found with a gunshot wound on
North Tryon Street, near Owen Boulevard, in Charlotte. Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after midnight, but despite their efforts, Lamar was pronounced dead at the scene. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department immediately launched a homicide investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.
Nearly a year after the incident, on May 30, 2023, CMPD made significant progress in the case. Two suspects, Allen Scott Leach, a 20-year-old male, and Nevaeh De'Jah Deas, a 19-year-old female, were arrested and charged in connection with Lamar's murder. Both suspects faced multiple charges, including murder, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon. Additionally, Leach was charged with promoting prostitution, while Deas faced a misdemeanor prostitution charge.
The investigation revealed that Lamar was shot and killed during an attempted robbery at a motel on North Tryon Street. The suspects were apprehended by CMPD's Violent Criminal Apprehension Team and were taken into custody without incident. They were subsequently transferred to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office, where they faced legal proceedings related to the charges against them.
