Death by Force

Sgt. Matthew Ryan Fishman, a 38-year-old male of Caucasian ethnicity, tragically lost his life on August 1, 2022, while serving involuntary commitment papers in Dudley, North Carolina. Fishman, who had served with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office for 12 years, was one of three deputies shot during the incident. The other two deputies survived their injuries.
