Raymond Goodman, a 32-year-old African American male, was tragically murdered on October 3, 2022, in Charlotte, North Carolina. The incident occurred at the Pilot Travel Center gas station on Statesville Avenue, near Interstate 85. Raymond, a Navy veteran, was involved in an altercation at the gas station around 11:30 p.m. on the night of the incident. During the altercation, Raymond and another man were shot. Raymond sustained a gunshot wound to the chest, and both victims were rushed to the hospital by paramedics. Unfortunately, Raymond succumbed to his injuries and passed away during emergency treatment in the early hours of October 4, 2022.
The other victim, whose identity and condition remain undisclosed, was also hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. The suspects involved in the shooting fled the scene, and as of now, no arrests have been made. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has not released any suspect information, and the case remains unsolved. The CMPD is actively seeking information from the public to help identify the individuals responsible for Raymond's murder. Crime Stoppers has increased the reward for information leading to an arrest to $10,000, following a private donation.
