Dashawn Ray Gene Dean, a 27-year-old African American male, was found dead on December 13, 2022, in Matthews, North Carolina. The Matthews Police Department responded to a call about a car accident on Moore Road, near the East Independence Expressway, around 1:20 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered Dean unconscious in the vehicle with a gunshot wound to the head.
