Sheriff Robert B. Day, aged 49, was shot and killed on March 29, 1924, in East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana. He was the sheriff of East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office and was killed during a raid on a gambling establishment in Dixie, a suburb two miles north of Baton Rouge. Sheriff Day and his deputy were attempting to shut down the illegal gambling operation when they were met with gunfire.
