On February 26, his death was recorded, not as a result of a violent crime, but as a tragic accident. In the wake of his passing, there was no ensuing police investigation, and consequently, no suspects were ever named or sought.

His family, including his parents, Arthur Pete and Terry Lynn Cunningham, and his four sisters, Quianna, Brandy, Artanisha, and Nija, mourned their profound loss. A funeral service to celebrate his life was held on March 5, 2010, at the New Hope B.C., with Pastor John C. Raphael officiating.
