On a Father's Day in New Orleans, what should have been a day of celebration turned into a tragedy for the family of Frederick 'Fred' Gibbs. On June 20, 2010, the 52-year-old African American train conductor was fatally shot, his life cut short by an act of violence. Gibbs, a respected member of his community and a 1977 graduate of Biloxi High School, was a dedicated professional and a loving father to his two sons, Kendrick DeShaun and Cedric Maurice.
