On a Monday morning in New Orleans, just after 11 a.m. on April 2, 2012, the life of 23-year-old Constance Elena 'Phat' Streho was brought to a violent and tragic end. The young Black woman was inside a Lincoln Town car in the 3100 block of Lausat Place when she was struck by multiple gunshots.
Born on May 3, 1988, in Jasper, Texas, Constance had moved to Gretna, Louisiana, at the age of nine. She was remembered as a loving soul by her family.
Her untimely death left her parents, Dottie Streho Matlock and Steven W. Matlock, along with her siblings and a wide circle of family and friends, to grapple with a devastating loss.
In the aftermath of the shooting, the New Orleans Police Department launched an investigation into the homicide. Despite their efforts, no arrests have been made in the case, and no suspects have been publicly identified. The case remains an open and unsolved homicide.
