Anthony Jared Jones, a 29-year-old African American man, was shot and killed on June 20, 2013, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. His death was the result of a senseless act of violence that stemmed from a dispute over a dice game. The man responsible for his murder, Christopher Byrd, was eventually brought to justice, convicted, and sentenced for his crime, bringing a measure of closure to a grieving family and community.
