On the evening of January 28, 2016, a burst of gunfire in Shreveport, Louisiana, tragically cut short the life of 29-year-old Marcus Elzie, a Black male. The incident unfolded in the 6400 block of West Canal Boulevard, where Elzie was a passenger in a vehicle caught in an exchange of bullets. He sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head and was later pronounced dead at University Health.

The driver of the vehicle in which Elzie was a passenger, Treviondest Young, who was 22 at the time, was subsequently taken into custody. Young faced charges of illegal use of a weapon and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. However, information regarding whether he was considered a suspect in Elzie's death or if any other individuals were identified, arrested, or charged in connection with the shooting has not been made publicly available in the years following the incident. The case remains without a publicly announced resolution regarding a direct suspect in the death of Marcus Elzie.
